My artistic exploration is based on the concept of liminal spaces, the threshold between what was and is yet to be. This ambiguous, in-between realm resonates deeply with my innermost fears and serves as a metaphor for the anxieties tied to change. Within my current series of paintings, I look into the familiar spaces in our lives, stripping away the familiar objects of home, work and public environments. These rooms, once comforting, become eerie in their emptiness, devoid of typical wall signs and decorations. I focus on specific areas of the room, where walls meet, emphasising a feeling of confinement and limitation. Exploring these silent rooms allows me to confront my emotions through various lenses. The beige walls signify emotional emptiness, capturing a lack of feeling. A sense of limbo represents the mental suspension experienced during transitional moments and is captured through odd angles, scuffed walls and mysterious light sources.
