Home can look different for a lot of people and every one will have their own unique version. Having multiple places to call home, the artist focuses on these spaces to help express his narrative. The video installation: Smoko explores the conversation between time and space with a focus on self documentation and poetic storytelling. The influence of space and its relationship with human behaviour is what drives this work. This series of videos draws on personal experiences shown through the labour of repetition. Creating a focal point on my own lived experiences/spaces drives the poetic elements evident throughout. These interactions with space are often mundane but contrasting multiple familiar environments pose questions regarding youthful living in 2023 and thus allowing the artist to assess their own life. Using means of colour controls the narrative, allowing it to flow aesthetically whilst shifting the viewers gaze accordingly.
