Do you know what it's like to be alone?

Solus is an experimental animation that loosely explores themes of loneliness, self-expression and alienation. Without the use of dialogue, Solus evokes nostalgia with bright colours, baggy clothing and references to rebellion.

My animation's primary objective is to explore the creation of a hybrid animation by combining 3D and 2D elements. Although constructed entirely within a 3D space, each asset is textured using 2D tools. Specifically Blender's Grease Pencil, which ultimately helps to achieve a hand-drawn, stylised look. This tool is used in films such as Spider-Man: Into the Spider Verse and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, while my desired aesthetic is more similar to series like The Simpsons or Futurama.
