I SEE SOMETHING ELSE - Criticising the sexual objectification of women in advertising
I See Something Else is a practice-led research that criticises how
women are often sexually objectified in advertising. The aim of
this research is to be more informed as a young woman living in a
consumerist society while also being able to convey this message
to others to raise awareness. This research topic is significant
because society has been so exposed to over-sexualised media
that people have been normalising viewing women as objects. This
negatively impacts women by promoting a toxic standard that
women must conform to while teaching younger audiences the
wrong views of women’s appearance.
