A gentle and modern comic store experience

Spring Comic is a modern and gentle comic store inspired by falling cherry blossom petals, indicating budding romance. Developed from the recognition of a need for locations designed for solo visitors, the store also acts as a café, with individual seating for customers to order food and drink directly to their table without the need for social interaction if undesired. In addition to a store, Spring Comic is a club. Members can access private pods where food, drink and unlimited books can be delivered, as well as being able to personalise the lighting and a projection of the user’s choice of calming scenery. Spring Comic invigorates Nuffield Street and Balm Street, bringing colour and light into the area. This design brings a convenient modernity other countries experience and New Zealand lacks, attracting young people who crave excitement in this city. The bright lights of Japan and Korea are very enticing to young New Zealanders, so Spring Comic will provide some of this experience in our own city.
