As a society, we are more disconnected than ever. This project proposes super-modern garments as tools for human reconnection and digital mindfulness. Through modular design, my work reclaims presence while fighting fashion over-consumption, offering wearable systems to resist technological distraction and regain meaningful, grounded interactions. Reconnect is driven by my sustainable, problem-solving mindset. Drawing on historical garments, I solve modern problems through a speculative lens that responds to our increasingly transitional world. I use experimental pattern-making ideas in order to construct the garments with human connection in mind, openings at the serve as a visual cue for someone to help or interact with the wearer. This work advocates concious consumption, by providing adaptable fashion systems that carry personal narrative. By promoting intentional wearing, I hope to draw a connection between garment and wearer to prevent premature disposal and to protect our whenua.
