Take Back is an animation that explores the question of “How can I use 2D animation techniques on 3D animation to create retro anime-style animation?” Throughout the animation process, I will try to mimic 2D animation techniques to replicate the retro essence in 3D animation. This animation is heavily inspired by Akira: a city setting with the main character, Zeno, who steals a case, triggering a car chase with bad guys until a giant robot appears and chases him, ending with the robot falling off the edge of the city. My intention for this animation project is to show how I can use techniques such as stepped tangents, timing, and parallax animation to make 3D feel like 2D.
