A place to enjoy nature.

The Hibiscus Coast, the area I grew up and the area I learnt how to endure and appreciate nature. This area has no introductory services. There are books on specific topics and the occasional historical social media post, but nothing that helps people discover the flowers on the Hibiscus Coast. My design solution is to create a personal connection to a location through a photo book, supported by a welcome pack of cards and coasters. The photo book showcases floral and plant photography from the Hibiscus Coast. Despite the wide variety of flowers that fill grassy paddocks every Spring, I found minimal information about them, apart from the many florists in rewa. A case study that pinpoints the Hibiscus Coast’s location connects every element of the project, allowing me to explore floral photography, key themes and the significance of place. My methods include photography as my main medium, research, experimentation and brainstorming. I aim to link a personal experience to the area I grew up in. I combine design and photography to draw people closer to both, and to help them recognise the importance of flowers, their intentional blooms and their impact on the environment.
