the Disagreeable Girls

In this collection, I aim to subvert the prevailing notion surrounding the main character from the book “The Secret Garden,” which has often portrayed her as a disagreeable and unfazed young girl. Instead, my interpretation seeks to illuminate her true essence – that of a vulnerable and resilient individual navigating through a world fraught with difficulties and challenges. One of the key ways I’m accomplishing this is by using enveloping clothes as a metaphorical representation of the safe space I’m creating for her. This reinterpretation not only challenges the initial judgments about her character but also encourages a broader reflection on how we perceive and understand those who may appear distant or disagreeable at first glance.
