The Girl with the Pink Hair & the Rainbow that shaped her.

The Girl with the Pink Hair & the Rainbow that Shaped Her follows my personal journey into self-identity and the discovery of drag practice. It highlights the three key areas of my exploration: navigating high school, the path to understanding identity, and the achievements that follow later in life. The book presents real-world applications and personal experiences through an illustrated storybook, aiming to reshape the conversation about how drag is perceived and to showcase the resilience and dynamism of the art form.

This project serves as a way to give back to the community of drag artists who have supported my personal growth since youth. My book intentionally uses the colour pink to symbolise a fully-formed drag artist giving back to her inner child by realising her hopes and dreams. The illustration style is accessible, warm, and inviting, a necessary choice for the project as I aimed to create a universal language that welcomes people into a potentially unfamiliar world, while still playing with colour and form. This project is a tribute to growth, thriving, and evolution - a seal of love and gratitude to the artists who have profoundly impacted my journey.
