A visual exploration of the growing disconnect between the natural rhythms of our world and standardised human time
The Nature of Time is a visual exploration of the growing disconnect between the natural rhythms of the world and the human-made, standardised systems we use to measure time. The project examines how our understanding of time has shifted from something once guided by the movement of the sun, changing seasons, and cycles of nature into a rigid structure defined by clocks, calendars, schedules, and deadlines. While nature operates through gradual transitions, repetition, and unpredictability, modern society increasingly relies on precision, efficiency, and constant productivity. This contrast raises questions about how our relationship with time has changed, and what we may have lost in the process. Through visual storytelling, the project aims to challenge the perception of time as something purely measurable, encouraging a reconsideration of our relationship with the natural world. Ultimately, it invites viewers to slow down, observe the rhythms around them, and reconnect with a more intuitive, natural understanding of time.
