The Scent of Passage

Bachelor of Design Retail Experience Interior Design Spatial Narrative Place-making Story-telling Materiality

Tracing Light and Fragrance Through Space

The scent of passage is a sensory exploration of memory, movement, and place. This perfumery reinterprets manaakitanga—hospitality and care—through scent, light, and material. A curved central counter flows like a stream, guiding visitors through shifting reflections and quiet pauses. Translucent glass, brushed metal, and native plants evoke water, land, and breath. Light ripples across surfaces, turning time into texture. More than retail, it is a space of renewal—where scent becomes language and design is felt before it is understood.
