Grief led her into the cave; love wouldn’t let her leave.
“The Withering Glow” is a narratologically directed story that portrays themes of grief and loss through its stylised textures and atmospheric settings. For this capstone project, I will be using a range of tools in the 3D and 2D pipeline, such as Procreate, Substance Painter and Autodesk Maya. My main objective was to create character designs, textures, a 2D animation sequence, and 2D effects to strengthen my knowledge of texturing and 2D animation. Taking inspiration from influential 3D hybrid animations, story development, stylisation, and 3D/2D mechanics will help me make important design decisions that will influence the output of my work. Through practice-based research, I have examined narratology, pre-visualisation, and contextualisation methodologies alongside theoretical texts and case studies, which have taught me the importance of colour and character design. Through research, I learnt how to improve my creative work for both my animation visuals and technical skills.
