Bachelor of Design Editorial Illustration Human Centred Design Storytelling Narrative Social Innovation

This project investigates how editorial design can support people who feel they are unable to invest time and focus into developing new creative based skills due to motivational and distraction based issues. The produced publication focuses on a young adult audience, and is based on academic research that highlights how sustainable practice is often disrupted by factors like emotional fatigue and digital stimuli (Lally et al., 2009; Clear, 2018). By documenting a 50-day illustrative routine, the project examines how creative habits are strengthened through repetition and reflection, while also observing how setbacks can be used to counter unrealistic expectations cultivated by opaque online discussions. The publication is presented as a physical medium, offering a space that is less vulnerable to distraction. Being a physical artifact makes it easier to rediscover and use multiple times rather than being lost to the media landscape, while communicating the values of long-term practice.
