Through Dimensions: The Slavic Culture and The Looking Glass
This project aimed to inform people about Ancient Slavic Culture and revive its cultural heritage. Through Dimensions is a book series, with interactive elements, that explores different aspects of the culture, focusing on the structure of dimensions from the Slavic worldview and the significant appearance of mirrors in tales, superstitions, and rituals. Motif exploration, patternmaking, and illustration methods are applied to bookmaking to create a series of books that visually unpack the culture and the significance of mirrors. The artefact includes nine chapters, each created as a separate booklet, and a mirror artefact, all packaged into a box. The first four chapters are designed in white and red, with metallic gold paper elements to represent the physical world, and the last four are black, with white and metallic silver elements, representing the astral dimension. The middle chapter is made of two chapters, a white and a black, stuck together as a Z-fold to symbolize the transition from the physical dimension, into the metaphysical. The book series is suited for a wide audience, for those who want to learn about the culture and those who want to remember their roots and revive their heritage.
