Exploring the significance of weaving patterns in Taiwanese Indigenous culture
Tminun, meaning weaving in the Formosan languages, is a project that integrates traditional Taiwanese weaving patterns, allowing audiences to engage with our indigenous craft-making culture visually. The design features motifs inspired by 16 tribes’ indigenous patterns, conveying heritage and cultural significance. The project addresses cultural decline through research into traditional techniques and materials, where modern influences and generational disconnect overshadow indigenous weaving culture. This project aims to preserve and communicate cultural heritage, fostering a stronger connection between younger generations and their roots.
