Home,

What constitutes a home?

By definition, a home is the building you live in.

Within my practice, I propose the idea that home is more than just a building, but a feeling.

Extending beyond the physical walls of the house, embodying a much more complex and spiritual resonance.

Capable of finding home in a person, an animal, an object or even a song, provoking the universal phenomena of nostalgia.

Employing memory as both a tool for introspection and a medium for intuitive exploration, I construct surreal otherworlds enveloped in tranquil blue and green hues.

From beams of light re-shaping the earth,

To vibrant bubbly figures voyaging on land,

I seek to capture moments when the feeling of home seems both near and far,

Present, yet absent

Felt, but not seen.

I dedicate these artworks to my whanau and friends,

For without you, I would have never known what home felt like.
