Preserving and sharing Ô ăn quan through illustrated media.

My project looks at how design can help keep Vietnamese folk culture alive and give it a new look through the traditional game O an quan. I wanted to find a way to make this game meaningful and fun for younger people again, as it slowly fades from everyday life. I want to reconnect people with cultural traditions by making O an quan into something fun, educational, and long-lasting. I use cultural research, fun drawings, and eco-friendly design to give this old but fading part of Vietnamese heritage a modern twist. The result is an illustrated book and packaging that honours traditional values while introducing the game to new people in Aotearoa.
