An Illustrated Exploration of Life's Uncertainties

What the Fork Am I Doing? explores the uncertainty and overwhelming freedom of transitioning from university into the unknown. After years of following a relatively predetermined path, we are suddenly faced with endless possibilities and the pressure to decide what comes next. This project questions whether uncertainty must be something to fear or could instead offer opportunity.

Developed from a personal internal monologue, the project uses illustration, visual metaphor and expressive typography to communicate the complexities of decision making. Through creative writing, visual experimentation and iterative prototyping, it evolved into a risograph printed publication supported by posters, a social media campaign and physical artefacts.

The different forms and meanings of forks provide a recurring visual metaphor, representing both the pressure and freedom of choice. Rather than offering answers, the project invites readers to reconsider the possibilities of not knowing what comes next.
