Ples we sedo i bungim lait
Where shadows meet light/Ples we sedo i bungim lait, is an exhibit that binds ceramic artworks to their spatial relationships. Their shadows become an extension of their energy stored within, unfolding throughout the space and disrupting the illusion of order.
In Melanesian oral traditions, our history is etched into the land. Physical landmarks take on placeholders of knowledge, providing evidence of past events. The landscape is not just a backdrop for events, but an active shaper of our identity and memory. Just as the earth moulds our memories, my clay vessels support my own remembering.
This exhibit is accompanied by a mythical story that anchors the clay vessels to this exhibit setting. As the theme of this exhibit follows, the tale of Muruk, Pukpuk, Kokomo and Koki broadens the creatures' horizons as they are called to negotiate their spatial relations.
