Whirlwind Vision is centred on the Filipino weaving pattern, Kusikus, which translates to Whirlwind. The project investigates the design conventions of Kusikus and applies these insights to contemporary graphic design decisions. This exploration informed the development of publication design, contemporary pattern reimaginations, and a display typeface that reflects the movement and repetition found within the original woven artefacts. By translating the captivating visual language of Kusikus into contemporary design activations, the project serves as an entry point for learning about Filipino weaving.
