Inferno

Inferno is a 2D platformer based on the first section of Dante Alighieri’s narrative poem “The Divine Comedy”. In this 2D platformer, Dante, A kind-hearted man who has sinned too many times is being punished by God in the afterlife and for his sins against God. Dante is sent to the nine circles of hell by God as punishment and if he manages to survive all nine circles of hell, God will grant Dante his access to Paradiso. If Dante fails to complete his punishment, his soul will be trapped for eternity, being punished for his sins.

For this project I explored “How can I convey the narrative of Dante’s Inferno to the player through exciting gameplay and exploration in my 2D Platformer?” I achieved this through techniques such as environmental storytelling and level design and I am satisfied with my final result.

This project was a challenging but exciting experience and I have learnt many valuable skills from and also allowed me to produce a fun narrative gameplay experience.
