Memory Lane is a live action film created to explore and evoke nostalgia within the audience. The film tells a story about a young adult protagonist who is lost and experiencing depression within his life. A text message from his mother leads him back to his old home where he stumbles across a box filled with his old video games from his childhood. Once that box is opened a portal leads him into a nostalgia inspired utopian world where the protagonist experiences his favourite video games in real life and experiences his inner nostalgia as a physical place rather than through his emotions. Next thing leads to another and he finds himself back at his warm home in front of his mothers baking.

Memory Lane became a successful project of mine. My pure focus within my film was creating various dynamic simulations and implementing them within live action footage and implementing various 3D modelled assets created based on childhood video games I played as a kid. Our generation is constantly fuelled by this concept and how it appeals and influces todays digital media on various platforms. Nostalgia is constantly portrayed through video games, music, films and even through social media platforms. Every corner of digital media today is peeping back into the past as a way of looking forward.

This inspired me to create Memory Lane as it was suitable for todays generation and how it is currently fuelled by nostalgia.
